Edited this one right after dental surgery.
Definitely not the ideal post-op activity 😭
But the video went on to pull almost 300K views.
The funny part is, the edit itself wasn’t about throwing effects everywhere.
It was about keeping the pacing tight, supporting the story...
“You decide” sounds like freedom.
Until the editor opens the timeline and realizes it actually means:
“Please read my mind.”
Creative freedom works best when the goal is clear.
Tell your editor:
• what the video needs to achieve
• who it’s for
• how you want the audience to feel
...
When the client sends the brand guide after you’ve already finished the edit 💀
Page 1:
“NEVER USE RED.”
Meanwhile, the entire timeline: 🔴🔴🔴
Maybe send the brand guide before the edit next time 😭
#videoeditor #videoediting #editorslife #clientwork #freelanceeditor...
100K views in 48 hours.
And the biggest editing lesson from it wasn’t about adding more.
It was knowing when to leave the shot alone.
Not every second needs motion graphics, transitions, text or effects.
Sometimes the clean cut is the better edit.
Knowing when not to edit is also...
“Can you make it more engaging?”
Editor: understood.
