I conceived, designed, and developed Befood, including the iPhone app and its interactive launch website. My work connected the original idea, the app experience, and the way the product is introduced online.
The challenge: make food information understandable
A single score can be easy to read but difficult to trust. Befood needed to help people understand the information behind a result, compare products, and see when something was missing.
I organized the experience around scanning, product details, exploration, comparison, and receipt-based journeys, with a consistent information hierarchy across the app.
A score with an explanation
The interface connects each result to the details behind it. Nutrition, ingredients, and other contributions are broken into readable sections, so people can move from an overview to a specific question.
The landing includes an interactive example: removing ingredient information changes the displayed score from 83 to a range of 49–83 and explains what is unknown. This makes uncertainty visible instead of hiding it behind a precise-looking number.
From a clear result to the information behind it: the app’s score and nutrition detail.
From app experience to launch website
I designed and developed the landing around a progression from the packaging to the label and then the method. Product demonstrations show scanning, detailed results, exploration, and comparison. Supporting sections explain receipts, information sources, and access to the beta.
The goal was to let visitors understand the experience before asking them to try the app.
The Befood landing page: product storytelling, interactive chapters, and beta access.
What I delivered
Original product concept and experience direction.
App UX/UI, navigation, and information hierarchy.
App development and implementation of the designed experience.
Product-detail, comparison, and receipt-based experiences.
Landing page design and development.
Interactive product storytelling and a beta-access journey.
Current stage
The landing is live at befood.co. At the time of this case study, the public site presents the app as an iPhone TestFlight beta, with the App Store listing in review.
This project demonstrates my ownership from concept through design and development. Adoption and conversion results will be added when measured.
