I created two book designs for LifeWork Project, a non-for-profit Christian organization. The books utilize AR technology with scannable images throughout to incorporate videos into each chapter; this made illustrations very important as they each needed to be unique and serve a specific purpose. The overall design of both books used hand-drawn letters and minimalistic illustrations to appeal the the target audience of young religiously-minded professionals who are just starting out in their careers.
Role: Freelance Graphic Designer

First Book Cover

"Expeditions to Success" is a collection of short stories by author Joe Schuringa. Since this book talks about many topics that can apply to many job fields, I designed a cover that reflected a range of people in different careers all journeying together to climb a mountain. The hand lettered type follows the line of the mountain, emphasizing upward direction to show progress.

Second Book Cover

"A Christian Guide to Going Beyond in Life and Work" is a workbook by the same author as above. Since this book walked the reader through different lessons that build on each other throughout each chapter, I chose to create a single character that we followed throughout the book. The cover shows that same character at the peak of his journey, giving the audience a sense of excitement and inspiration.

AR Technology

In each of the books, AR technology was used to show supplementary videos. This was a unique challenge to make sure each illustration was unique and had enough contrast for the camera to register it.

Custom Illustrations

With the covers, AR illustrated markers, and decorative illustrations, there were a lot of illustrations. Here are a handful of them from both books.
