🎯Project Details

My client spearheads this passion project for his love of kombucha. My task was to build the website content from scratch, including all the content and visuals. After several months, the website eventually turned into an affiliate marketing site. My duties for this project include:

  • Competitor analysis
  • Keyword research
  • Content writing
  • Proofreading
  • Infographic creation.
  • WordPress management.

The project was one of my first baby projects since it matched my passion for food. If you're into food fermentation and believe in its power to heal modern-day diseases, you may visit his website www.growingkombucha.com.

⚒️Content Creation Process

The building process for Growing Kombucha covers all aspects of content creation and off-page SEO. It focuses more on producing high-quality content that my client wants for his passion project.

💭Search Intent & Topic Research

My client initially gave me a comprehensive list of content to extract the topics that he wanted to discuss on the website. This list includes competitor websites where I can build up some strategies and gain some insights.

I formulated a unique process for extracting insights from competitor pages through the following steps:

  • Top ranking keywords per page.
  • Data structure.
  • Data presented.
  • Missed opportunities.
  • Visuals used.
  • Sources.
  • Target audience.

Once all of the factors above are extracted, I will create a new strategy for the content. I aim to make it better, then add my style to it which is easy to read and engaging but informative.

🍚Content Outline

Once the plot has been set for each topic, the topic will be narrowed down to the tiniest details. The outline is the most crucial part of my process since it will dictate the flow that I will use for my content.

For me, the outline serves as the frame of the whole content before it gets filled in with content and images. It's like a pattern to a matchmaker or a clay mold to a potter.

My outline process typically includes:

  • Meta title curation
  • Sectioning
  • Addition of my talking points
  • Image positioning
  • Sources of information
  • Heading placements
  • Keyword distribution
  • Infographic date research

👩‍🍳Content Writing & SEO Elements Application

After setting the outline, I will write the blog based on how I wanted to share the data and the flow that I set for the content. I typically take around 2 to 3 hours to write a 500 to 1000-word article. In some cases, it takes longer when the topic is too complex or technical.

Most of the time, SEO elements like keyword placements are done during the writing process. However, long-tail keywords can be hard to blend immediately and disrupt the writing flow so I add them later after the content is already written.

The first draft of the blog is typically the messiest version and it usually takes 2 to 3 revisions to fine-tune or refine the content to the standard that I want. During this stage, I also write the meta title and meta description to make it easier to migrate all the content to WordPress later on.

🖼️Image Editing

The writing is the hardest part but the image editing is the fun one. After writing the post, I started editing the image that I needed to visualize the data presented in the blog. The images that I edit usually involve:

  • Feature image
  • Infographic
  • Section images

🍞Proofreading

The quality assurance process in terms of content creation is the proofreading process. This is the tedious process of curating every error that I can see from the images to the content. The proofreading part usually takes two rounds.

🖥️ Content Publishing in WordPress and Indexing in GSC

Most of the content editing is done in Google Docs. Therefore, once the content is already done, I migrate all the content to WordPress. The process includes uploading the images, adding alt-texts, and setting the meta title and description.

Once the content has been published, I will index the content in the Google Search Console to let the crawlers run on the page and rank it immediately.

😎 Published Content for Our Garden Works

Within the duration of our project, I published around 20 posts for Growing Kombucha. The top-performing ones are as follows.

🌟Content Transformation & Milestones🌟

In a span of three to four months, the website is already getting around 900+ organic traffic.

The peak of the content is in August 2023 when the traffic reached almost a thousand organic traffic for a single content.

The infographics are the ones that generate the traffic based on results. Sadly, my client has decided to stop the project due to changes in his business priorities which is entering the world of AI and prompt engineering.
