RVXX Visual Identity & Release Artwork

The Brief

RVXX (Raging Volcano Extreme Xtreme) is my solo music project. Everything: writing, production, mixing, mastering, sound design, and visuals. All me. The project needed a visual identity that could hold its own against the music, which pulls from 8-string metal, heavy electronic production, NIN/Depeche Mode atmospherics, post-rock, and creative sound design with stereo image mastery.
The name itself tells the story. "Raging Volcano" comes from the video game player handles my smaller nerd friend group used as teenagers (think Chainsaw Dagger, Raging Volcano). "Extreme" because the music is always pushing genre boundaries: argent metal colliding with glitch, synthwave, drum and bass, horror and sci-fi sound design. "Xtreme" because sometimes you just need to reference the random extreme guys from Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle. That's the sense of humor baked into the DNA.
RVXX is the pursuit of happiness through creation. Every release builds out a cohesive, ever-expanding world that combines horror, sci-fi, metal, and electronic genres into something dictated entirely by me. The visuals had to match that energy: dark, atmospheric, genre-fluid, and unmistakably RVXX.

The Approach

The visual system needed to work across music platforms with very different requirements. A single release cover has to read at thumbnail size on Spotify and Apple Music. A profile avatar needs to be instantly recognizable across platforms. Demo artwork sets the tone before the first official release even drops. And a Spotify canvas (the looping visual that plays behind a track) has to feel like an extension of the song itself.
Every design decision was filtered through the same question: does this feel like RVXX? Dark, heavy, atmospheric, with just enough weirdness to signal that this isn't a conventional metal project. The visual language borrows from the same places the music does: horror aesthetics, sci-fi textures, and the kind of intensity you feel in a boss fight soundtrack.

What I Created

"Back" debut single release cover for the first official RVXX release
RVXX profile avatar for music platforms (Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud, etc.)
RVXX demo cover for pre-release demos before the first official drop
"Back" debut single Spotify canvas (looping visual for the Spotify music player)

The Outcome

A visual identity that matches the world RVXX is building sonically. The artwork doesn't just package the music; it extends the experience. Dark, atmospheric, genre-fluid, and built to scale as the project grows. Every piece works independently on its platform while reinforcing the same cohesive identity: this is one person's vision, executed across every dimension, from the 8-string riffs to the pixels on screen.
