The Project

RVXX is my solo extended-range guitar / production project. "Back," released July 15, 2026, is the debut single — and it's built around a full conceptual and visual system, not just a track.

The Concept

The song is built on a central tension: Nature vs. Machine. The organic — the body, exhaustion, home — fighting the synthetic — surveillance infrastructure, airport systems, sound design itself, a clock that resets across timezones and lies to your body about what time it actually is. Neither side wins. That tension isn't a lyrical theme layered on top after the fact — it's the argument the song is structurally having with itself.
The visual identity carries the same idea forward: an owl motif I call "Hoos Watching" — doing double duty as literal terminal surveillance cameras and as the anonymous strangers watching a jet-lagged traveler walk toward baggage claim. Both are real; the uncertainty of which kind of watching it is becomes the emotional core of the piece.

The Execution

Instrumentation: built entirely on an MPK Mini gen 1, composed before lyrics existed — atmosphere first, story second, the way jet lag itself works (the fog arrives before the meaning does)
Cover art: a hand-painted watercolor and ink owl illustration, painted traditionally before any screen work — then composited with typography and barcode in Canva. Two disciplines stacked: fine art, then graphic design. Same "two systems, one outcome" idea that runs through the song
Sound design detail: the demo was field-tested by walking the actual route through Indianapolis International Airport, timing a built-in "door closing" sound effect to land exactly at the moment of arriving home — deliberately ambiguous about whether it confirms anything
Release infrastructure: Spotify for Artists profile (avatar + header designed in Canva), a finalized 200-character SubmitHub pitch, and a sync-licensing outreach strategy targeting Songtradr/Music Atlas, Musicbed, and Artlist
Companion documentation: author's notes written for a planned art book — cover story, writing process, and concept breakdown per song, building the release out as a long-term multi-format body of work rather than a single drop

Why It Matters

This demonstrates the full stack of independent artist-as-business: songwriting and production, conceptual/visual design, brand system development, and commercial pitch strategy — executed solo, end to end, with the same systems-thinking rigor I bring to PM and automation work. Same brain, different medium.

Result

An independently written, produced, and mixed debut single with a fully developed conceptual world, professional release assets, and an active sync-licensing pitch campaign in motion.
