SaaS UX Audit & Design System Transformation for Energy Procurement Platform

The Challenge

Datapred, a high-stakes B2B SaaS for energy buyers, faced a common scaling problem: a complex, data-heavy interface that was becoming difficult for users to navigate. The goal was to conduct a comprehensive UX audit to identify friction points in market analysis and decision-making workflows, and then propose a scalable design solution.

My Approach & Process

I didn't just "redesign" - I analyzed. Using Hotjar (heatmaps and session recordings), I identified where users were dropping off in the "Situation" and "Decisions" modules.
UX Audit: Created a detailed audit in Figma, categorizing issues into "Quick Wins" and "Long-term Strategic Improvements."
Data-Driven Decisions: Analyzed user flows for energy hedging and transaction recommendations to simplify complex table views.
Systematic Design: Transitioned the platform to the MUI (Minimal UI Kit) framework. This ensured that my designs were not only aesthetic but also developer-ready for the React-based environment.
Proactive Prototyping: I delivered high-fidelity prototypes for key sections: Markets, Decisions, and Settings, focusing on information density and visual hierarchy.

The Solution & Results

Scalability: Introduced a component-based design system that reduced design-to-development handoff time.
Clarity: Simplified the "Decisions" dashboard, allowing energy buyers to process market forecasts 30% faster (based on user flow optimization).
Execution Plan: Provided a clear roadmap with estimated hours ($9k–$11k range) for full-scale implementation, giving the stakeholders a transparent path to ROI.
Role & Scope: I focused exclusively on the Product Experience (Web App), optimizing complex workflows and internal dashboards. Note: I did not design the marketing landing page.
