"I See Red People" (Je Vois Rouge) Film Subtitling

Subtitled the movie "Je Vois Rouge" from film director Bojina Panayotova from English into Spanish for 10th edition of "Al Este" film festival in Lima, Peru. It was challenging because the multi-cultural aspect of the film (it was originally filmed in Bulgarian and French) were already translated into English and my job was to make it accessible for Latin American Spanish speakers without missing details from the actual film that were giving sense to the text.

I enjoyed translating the part where one of the characters tells a joke to the main character (which is also the film director). In the English version didn't make much sense because the joke in the subtitle was boring but the main character starts laughing. So, I had to use a funny proverb in Spanish to try and make the audience laugh with the main character.

Of course, to see my name on the credits as the translator was a very exciting moment as well.
