Touchscreen Sports Gaming Platform

Overview

I designed a touchscreen android tablet application for Strikin, a sports gaming platform that blends physical sports interaction with real-time digital experience. When users arrive at the arena, they are assigned a bay with a touchscreen tablet. Through the app, players add teammates, choose games, and track their live scores in real time.

Challenge

Design a touchscreen system that:
Is easy to use for all age groups
Supports multiple game modes
Handles real-time match data clearly

Understanding the Player Journey

To understand how players interact with Strikin from discovery to gameplay, I mapped the complete user journey. This helped identify key friction points and opportunities to simplify onboarding and improve the in-bay touchscreen experience.

This journey map helped guide the UI structure and ensured the touchscreen experience aligned with real player behavior inside the arena.

My Approach

1️⃣ Start With the Player Journey

Before designing screens, I mapped the full user journey from entering the game bay to finishing a match.
I identified:
Where users might hesitate
Where decisions needed to be faster
Where excitement should peak
Outcome: A flow that feels natural, quick, and game-ready.

2️⃣ Designing for Simplicity

Applied UX laws to reduce decision fatigue:
Limited visible choices per step (Hick’s Law)
Grouped games into clear categories (Miller’s Law)
Used step-based navigation (Progressive Disclosure)
Outcome: Faster onboarding and smoother game start.

3️⃣ Designing for Touch Interaction

Since the platform is used in a live sports environment, the interface needed to be fast, clear, and effortless to operate on a large touchscreen.
Large tap targets to ensure accurate interaction
High-contrast CTAs so key actions stand out instantly
Minimal flows to keep navigation direct and simple
Reduced on-screen text to avoid clutter
Outcome: Users can confidently navigate and control the system.

4️⃣ Building a Scalable UI System

Created layouts adaptable to multiple game modes
Maintained consistent spacing and typography system
Designed patterns reusable across screens
Outcome: A scalable system ready for expansion and new features.

Outcome

The final design delivers a real-time gaming experience with intuitive navigation, strong visual hierarchy, and optimized touchscreen usability. This project strengthened my approach to designing interactive gaming platforms.
