About the Project

The challenge that appeared was that users were having difficulties figuring our how to purchase gift cards and were having to call the restaurant to ask about how they would go about purchasing these gift cards.
This resulted in researching the company with the stakeholders which resulted in conducting a heuristic evaluation of the current site and gift card process, a competitive analysis of the client’s competitors, a user persona of the target audience, wireframes and usability testing and finally a newly designed website with an updated gift card process to invite users to purchase gift cards at any time,  
My design process began with meeting with the company’s stakeholders to learn about the company, learn about their challenges, and clarify their goals which were to create a modernized website with easy access to purchasing gift cards.
My next step went into researching the company’s current website with a heuristic evaluation. With user research, I then conducted a competitive analysis where I determined the company’s top 5 competitors and their websites to better understand their mission statements, strengths, weaknesses, and gift card onboarding process. I documented and compared every feature and functionality on each site to determine the must-haves and the competitive advantages that would make my client’s site stand apart.
With this data, I went further in creating a user persona including the persona’s goals, needs, and frustrations. My insights from the user research pointed to gift cards and also the primary navigation, menu prices, booking reservations, and a photo gallery.
I went on to create lo-fi sketches with my insights to brainstorm ideas to translate into the mid-fi and hi-fi wireframes.

I completed this challenge by conducting usability testing with my mid-fi and hi-fi wireframes and used the testing results to design a newly functioning website with a revised primary navigation, a gift card purchasing process, a reservations prompt, an overview page of the menu, private dining, gallery, and press information. Each of these items featured a designated page.
