Alpen Life

While working on Alpen Life, my team and I met with our stakeholder to learn about the company and its goals. As I managed this project, my team and I went over our research and design process to build a time frame with our stakeholders. As we began our user research, we conducted user interviews and faced our challenge where we learned that while our stakeholders wanted to improve the information architecture of their existing native application as well as investigate goals, needs, and pain points of skiers and snowboarders who would potentially use the application while at a resort, our users needed an application with visibility into problems occurring on the mountain in order for them to better avoid and prevent mishaps when at their chosen resort.

As we briefed our stakeholders on our research we noticed that our stakeholders wanted to focus more on creating their desired product rather than pointing to user research. As the project manager, I made the executive decision that as UX Researchers and UI Designers, we needed to continue our research process and communicate our data and research insights to our stakeholders. This resulted in clear communication with our stakeholders where we were able to showcase our user research and synthesized research, user persona, user journey mapping, and collaborate in designing our wireframes and building the mobile application.

Our end result was an application informing users in advance about delays, accidents, and nearby mountain resorts. In the end, our client decided to keep their current mobile application but from this experience, Experience learned: I learned how to pivot through resiliency, storytelling, collaboration, and time management and this taught me to put the user’s needs first and always implement the research process into designing products.
