Overview🔍

"My team and I conducted user research to design a visually appealing and user-friendly mobile app for a sustainable online marketplace. We prioritized sustainability and localized content to ensure a seamless shopping experience and promote ethical and sustainable practices."

Problem & Solution🤝

Our team identified a problem with the existing e-commerce app: customers were experiencing difficulty navigating the platform, resulting in frustration and decreased sales. To solve this issue, we conducted extensive user research and implemented several design updates to improve the user experience. Our solution included a simplified information architecture, a mobile-first approach, localized content, multiple payment options, and responsive customer support. We then conducted usability testing to ensure our solution was effective and user-friendly.
Goals/Requirements:
Increase user engagement and sales conversion by improving the app's usability and user experience design.
Streamline the app's information architecture and navigation to make it easier for users to find and purchase products.
Conduct user research and testing to identify pain points and areas for improvement, and implement design changes based on the findings.

Process🛣️

To create a successful mobile app, we conducted user research to identify their needs and preferences. The team developed information architecture and wireframes, refined through several rounds of iteration and feedback. The visual design included a color scheme, typography, icons, and other elements. We tested the app to ensure it met project goals and provided a satisfying user experience, addressing any issues or areas for improvement. The final product was a seamless and user-friendly app that met the needs of our target audience.
Information Architecture
Crafting the information architecture was a crucial step in designing a seamless user experience. By understanding the user's needs and creating a clear hierarchy of information, we were able to create a navigational structure that made sense and allowed users to easily find what they were looking for.
User-flow
By analyzing shopping behavior and iterating with users, we created an intuitive user flow tailored to our African audience.
Mood boarding
To develop the mood board for our e-commerce app, we researched and curated a range of visual references that captured the essence of African culture and aesthetics. We then iterated and refined the mood board to align with our brand's vision and resonate with our target audience.
Wireframing
Through extensive research and user testing, we crafted a wireframe that streamlined the user flow and optimized the mobile experience. We also iterated the wireframe to reflect our brand's identity and values.

Results🎁

Usability testing showed positive results for the e-commerce app, with users finding it highly usable and enjoyable to navigate. The streamlined checkout process, clear product descriptions, personalized recommendations, and easy search and filter features were praised. The responsive and helpful customer support also contributed to a positive experience. The testing validated our design choices and provided valuable insights for future improvements.

Takeaways📣

To design a successful e-commerce app, understanding the user's needs is key. Incorporating user feedback and conducting usability testing can improve the user experience. Localizing content and providing multiple payment options can drive sales. Prioritizing the user and iterating on the design can make an e-commerce app a valuable tool for both the customer and the retailer.
