🧠 Decisions

After gathering business requirements from stakeholders and team leaders, I demonstrated the value of having a dedicated designer to create a user-friendly dashboard and portal for the Arkose Labs Command Center. With their support secured, we formed a focused team and established a one-year, two-phase roadmap to design and develop a powerful tool that would meet the organization's fraud prevention needs.

🕐 Phase One: Designing the Dashboard

To kick off the design process for the dashboard, we conducted a thorough competitive analysis to gain insights into industry best practices and inform our design direction. Based on our findings, we decided to pursue a modular design approach that would allow for future customization and flexibility. This would enable users to personalize their panels and create unique dashboard profiles tailored to their specific needs.

To quickly communicate our initial ideas, we created rapid wireframes using Balsamiq and incorporated screenshots of existing examples for efficiency. We then workshopped these wireframes with stakeholders and a select group of early adopter customers to gather valuable feedback and insights. Based on the input received, we refined the designs to better align with their requirements and expectations.

As we progressed, we moved into creating high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes. These more polished deliverables were once again shared with stakeholders and users for further validation and refinement. By actively incorporating their feedback throughout the process, we ensured that the final dashboard design effectively met both business objectives and user needs.

🕑 Phase Two: Designing the Portal

Building upon the strong foundation of the dashboard, which provides users with a centralized hub for real-time fraud monitoring, we progressed to the next phase of the Arkose Labs Command Center design. Our focus shifted to empowering customers with advanced self-service functionality for fraud management while maintaining the platform's ease of use.

🧨 Portal Problems

Our design efforts centered around creating dedicated sections for analysts to customize alerts and define bespoke detection rules, empowering them to tailor the system to their specific needs and preferences. Additionally, we tackled the administrative aspects of the Portal, designing intuitive interfaces for creating and managing user accounts, profiles, and permissions.

To ensure that our design decisions aligned with the project's objectives and user requirements, we employed job stories for each section of the Portal. These job stories served as a guiding light, helping us identify and address the key questions and challenges that needed to be solved. By keeping these stories at the forefront of our design process, we maintained a laser focus on delivering a Portal that met the needs of both analysts and administrators.
