The Story Behind the Project

When copywriter Amanda of Copywriting Panda reached out to me for a project, I knew this wasn’t going to be just another copyediting job. She had already crafted the original website copy for Nectar Landscape Design, a garden design company in Los Angeles that specializes in bespoke, restorative outdoor spaces. But the team at Nectar wanted to take the copy to the next level—fine-tuning the clarity, ensuring it fully embodied their brand voice, and optimizing it for SEO.
Amanda, a talented copywriter herself, recognized the value of a fresh set of expert eyes. She needed someone who could polish the content without compromising the original intent—someone who could seamlessly refine tone, flow, and messaging while ensuring each word felt intentional and inviting. It was an honor to step in as Copyeditor & Brand Voice Consultant, working alongside both Amanda and Nectar’s team to elevate the content to its full potential.

The Work: A Delicate Balance Between Precision & Creativity

The challenge? Ensuring the copy felt as thoughtful, personal, and bespoke as the gardens Nectar creates. While the original writing was already strong, my role was to elevate—not overwrite.
Over the course of two revision rounds, I worked closely with Amanda, Nectar’s Marketing Lead, and the company’s Owner to polish website copy for their Landing Page, About Page, Contact Page, and Process Page, as well as refine their Instagram campaign copy.
This project was about more than just making words “sound good.” It was about bringing Nectar’s mission to life through copy that: 🌿 Invited the audience into the brand’s world—one of sustainability, personalization, and deep connection with nature. 📢 Guided visitors toward action—subtly yet effectively steering them toward inquiries and consultations. 🔎 Enhanced searchability—incorporating SEO best practices without disrupting the warm, engaging tone.

The Challenge: Honoring the Original Vision While Refining the Message

Nectar’s brand voice was clear from the start—warm, nurturing, and inspirational—but refining that voice across every touchpoint required careful attention to detail. The goal was to:
1️⃣ Maintain the authenticity of the original copy while enhancing readability and clarity. 2️⃣ Align every word with Nectar’s brand values, ensuring the messaging was as inviting as their outdoor spaces. 3️⃣ Optimize the website copy for SEO without making it feel overly technical or keyword-stuffed. 4️⃣ Strengthen Instagram engagement by fine-tuning posts for clarity and consistency.
It was a collaborative process, requiring a balance of precision, creativity, and strategic editing.

The Strategy: A Collaborative Approach to Refinement

My approach was collaborative and iterative, ensuring that every revision felt like a natural extension of the brand’s identity.
1️⃣ Brand Voice Alignment 📝 Reviewed the original copy, focusing on tone, flow, and emotional resonance. 🎯 Aligned every sentence with Nectar’s brand voice—personal, warm, and rooted in restoration.
2️⃣ Website Copy Editing & SEO Enhancement 📖 Used Track Changes in Microsoft Word to transparently refine clarity, readability, and messaging. 🔎 Optimized key pages for searchability, ensuring effortless discoverability without losing the brand’s voice.
3️⃣ Social Media Copy Editing 📱 Edited Instagram content for clarity, consistency, and engagement, ensuring that every caption reinforced the brand’s personality. 💡 Suggested emojis and hashtags to enhance discoverability and interaction.
4️⃣ Collaborative Feedback & Refinement 🤝 Incorporated feedback from Amanda, the Marketing Lead, and the Owner, refining the copy based on their insights and preferences. ✅ Ensured that all final edits met the team’s vision, voice, and strategic goals.

The Process: From First Draft to Final Polish

1️⃣ Initial Consultation – Met with Amanda and the Nectar team to understand the brand’s essence and project goals. 2️⃣ Review of Existing Copy – Analyzed the content for clarity, consistency, and SEO potential. 3️⃣ Editing & Refinement – Used Track Changes to make careful, intentional edits while preserving the original tone. 4️⃣ Feedback & Revisions – Integrated team feedback to ensure the final version truly embodied the brand’s mission. 5️⃣ Final Delivery – Delivered polished, SEO-optimized website copy and refined social media content, ready for implementation.

The Outcome: A Cohesive, Compelling Brand Voice

The final website copy perfectly aligned with Nectar’s themes of restoration, nourishment, and personalization. The refined messaging improved clarity, strengthened SEO, and ensured a seamless brand experience across all touchpoints.
As for the Instagram content? The edits helped create stronger engagement, reinforcing the brand’s mission and drawing in an audience that values thoughtful, well-crafted outdoor spaces.
But for me, the real win was the collaborative spirit of this project—working with another copywriter, alongside the client, to bring out the best in their brand’s voice.
This project reaffirmed something I believe deeply: the smallest refinements can make the biggest impact—not just in words, but in how people experience a brand.
