Panda Pay – Hand-Drawn Vendor Illustrations for a Friendly, Unique Brand Identity

Client: Panda Pay Industry: Fintech / Credit Card Services Service: Custom Illustration Tools: Procreate & Adobe Illustrator Style: Duo-color, loose brush, hand-drawn digital art

Overview

Panda Pay, a credit card service provider, wanted to bring warmth and personality to their brand by celebrating the real people behind the businesses they serve. I was commissioned to create a series of hand-drawn illustrations that showcased Panda Pay’s vendors in a playful, expressive style. The result is a collection of unique, duo-color characters that blend simplicity with rich storytelling, helping Panda Pay build a friendly and approachable identity in the fintech space.

Design Approach

The goal was to move away from corporate clichés and give the brand a more human, creative edge. I developed a style that feels hand-crafted and organic, while remaining clear and modern.
Duo-Color Palette: Using two key brand colors to maintain visual consistency and keep the illustrations clean yet vibrant.
Loose Brush Style: A digital brushstroke feel that mimics traditional mediums for a personal, relatable look.
Character Storytelling: Each vendor illustration tells a mini-story — capturing personality, occupation, and vibe in a simple frame.
Tools Used: Sketches began in Procreate for fluidity, then finalized in Adobe Illustrator for clean, scalable vector output.

Key Deliverables

Custom Vendor Illustrations: A series of characters representing Panda Pay’s diverse vendor community.
Illustration System: Designed to be used across web, print, and social media with cohesive brand consistency.
Duo-Color Style Guide: Defined a visual system that’s scalable and adaptable while maintaining an organic feel.
Final Files: Delivered print/web-ready illustrations in multiple formats (AI, SVG, PNG), optimized for flexibility.

Results

The illustrated vendor characters gave Panda Pay a strong visual identity that’s both professional and personable. The use of a minimal color palette with expressive line work helped them stand out in a crowded financial services market, adding emotional value to the user experience and reinforcing brand loyalty.

Conclusion

This project was a great example of how custom illustration can create a deeper connection between a brand and its users. With over 15 years of design experience and a handcrafted approach using Procreate and Illustrator, I was able to deliver art that feels simple, human, and full of life—perfect for a brand like Panda Pay that’s all about supporting real people and real businesses.
