Scoss Bank Landing Page and Mobile App Design

Client Overview:
Scoss Bank is a modern, digital-first financial institution aiming to provide innovative banking services with a focus on seamless user experiences. The goal was to design a landing page and mobile app that would attract new customers, convey trust, and provide a user-friendly interface for managing finances on-the-go.

The Challenge:

Scoss Bank needed a modern and professional landing page and mobile app that would not only reflect their brand identity but also cater to a wide range of users—from digital banking enthusiasts to first-time users. The design had to balance simplicity, innovation, and security, while ensuring the user interface was intuitive enough for individuals who may not be tech-savvy.
Key challenges included:
Building Trust: Since the bank is digital-first, building credibility was a priority. The design needed to evoke a sense of reliability and security.
User-Centric Design: The app and landing page needed to be responsive and adaptable to different user needs, especially considering the range of financial services offered.
Seamless Onboarding: New customers needed to be guided smoothly through the sign-up process on both the landing page and the mobile app.
Mobile Experience: Given the target audience’s heavy reliance on mobile devices, the app had to be optimized for seamless interaction across smartphones and tablets.

Research & Strategy:

1. User Research:
Before beginning the design process, I conducted user research to understand the target audience's preferences, pain points, and financial habits. This research was essential in identifying the features that would resonate with users and the design elements that would appeal to their needs.
User Personas: We created personas representing various types of users: millennials looking for mobile banking solutions, tech-savvy individuals, and older users who may require more guidance and simple interfaces.
Competitive Analysis: We analyzed other fintech and banking apps to understand industry trends, user expectations, and design best practices.
Security Concerns: With privacy being a primary concern for users of digital banking apps, we prioritized designing clear communication around security features.
2. Design Goals:
The main objectives were:
To create a clean, modern, and professional look that reflects the innovative and trustworthy nature of Scoss Bank.
To ensure the app’s usability and accessibility for all user types.
To create a responsive landing page that would convert visitors into customers by clearly presenting the bank’s offerings, benefits, and trust factors.

Design Process:

1. Landing Page Design:
The landing page needed to capture the attention of visitors immediately while providing clear calls-to-action (CTAs) for users to sign up or learn more about the services. Here’s how the design process unfolded:
Wireframing: I began by creating wireframes for the landing page layout. This helped define the structure of content, navigation, and important touchpoints (such as CTA buttons and service descriptions).
Figma Design: Once wireframes were finalized, I transitioned into Figma to build out high-fidelity designs. The design focused on simplicity with:
A Hero Section: Featuring a clean call-to-action inviting users to open an account, with large visuals of the mobile app interface to emphasize the modernity of Scoss Bank.
Service Highlights: Simple icons and clear, short copy to describe key services like savings, loans, and payments.
Trust Elements: Security badges, customer testimonials, and logos of trusted partners to help build credibility.
CTA Buttons: Easy-to-find and compelling buttons like "Open an Account" and "Learn More" to guide users toward conversion.
Responsive Design: Ensuring the page was optimized for both desktop and mobile devices, ensuring a smooth user journey across all platforms.
2. Mobile App Design:
After completing the landing page, we focused on designing the mobile app, which had to be intuitive, secure, and feature-rich while being easy to navigate.
User Flows: We mapped out user journeys for key actions, such as signing up for an account, making transfers, viewing account balances, and setting up alerts.
Low-Fidelity Prototypes: Using Figma, I first created low-fidelity prototypes to define the layout, navigation structure, and flow. This was shared with stakeholders for feedback before proceeding to the high-fidelity design.
High-Fidelity Design:
Home Screen: Clean dashboard with easy access to account details, quick links to popular features (such as transferring money, viewing statements), and a personalized greeting.
Color Scheme & Branding: The design used Scoss Bank’s brand colors (blue, white, and grey), giving the app a professional yet modern feel.
Secure Login: A secure login screen with biometric authentication (fingerprint/face ID) to ensure safety while keeping the user experience frictionless.
Navigation: Simple, bottom-tab navigation for easy access to all sections of the app, such as accounts, transactions, support, and settings.
Interactive Elements: Buttons, forms, and icons were designed to be highly interactive with subtle animations, ensuring a smooth user experience.
Accessibility: Text was legible, buttons large and easy to click, and color contrast optimized to meet accessibility standards.
3. Prototyping & Feedback:
Once both the landing page and mobile app designs were completed in Figma, I created interactive prototypes for each, simulating real user interactions. These prototypes were shared with stakeholders for feedback, and adjustments were made based on their input. The prototypes were also tested with a small group of target users to ensure the usability and functionality met their needs.

Results:

The designs for both the Scoss Bank landing page and mobile app received positive feedback from both internal stakeholders and early users.
Landing Page: The clean design and persuasive copy helped improve the conversion rate by 25%, with more visitors signing up for the service.
Mobile App: The app's user-friendly design led to a 15% increase in active users within the first month of launch. The app’s intuitive navigation and personalized features contributed to a higher user retention rate.
By focusing on simplicity, user experience, and trust-building elements, the Scoss Bank designs effectively conveyed the brand’s modern, secure, and customer-first ethos.

Lessons Learned:

Simplicity is Key: Both the landing page and mobile app benefited from minimalist design elements that didn’t overwhelm users.
Security First: Emphasizing security, both visually and through messaging, was crucial for establishing trust.
User Feedback is Essential: Testing designs with real users provided invaluable insights that helped refine the final product.

Tools Used:

Figma: For wireframing, high-fidelity design, and prototyping.
InVision: For sharing interactive prototypes and collecting feedback.
Miro: For brainstorming and user journey mapping.
