A Brief Introduction

ACNUR reached out to me in order to help create a social media strategy for the launch of a new national Facebook and Twitter page. I was also tasked with creating a separate content strategy for the organization representatives' personal accounts in order to provide a helpful resource guide across all social media platforms. This project also involved complete translation from English to Spanish.
Note: The country's name for this project has been omitted to protect the client's privacy.

Key Milestones

Submit the official proposal request to open the new accounts.
Create social media strategy for each platform.
Build a content "How-To Content Guide" for representatives.

Project Goal

To submit a social media strategy that would be approved by the ACNURs media communications team, subsequently leading to the launch of two new national accounts and a revised content strategy for the representatives to implement across platforms.

My Process

When I was tasked with this project, I knew that it would need to split into several stages.
Research
Request
Strategize
Implementation
With these four stages, I would be able to properly prepare the client for the 5th stage: the launch. Let's break each one down further!

Research

Extensive research was done in order to understand the need for each account, the target audience, and where the client was struggling or had room for improvement. I requested and investigated reports for each area and analyzed each one carefully. This research would allow me to have the information necessary to move to the next step, submitting the official request.
tools used: google analytics, twitter analytics, meta analytics/facebook creator studio, umt reports, general population social media reports, and ACNUR seasons and events calendar.

Request

Next, I reviewed the official communications manual in order to familiarize myself with the organization's internal language, expectations, objectives, and over impact across social media platforms. This step was crucial when creating the proposal as it must align with UNHCR / ACNUR's mission, values, and global digital diplomacy best practices.
The requested proposal was divided into 3 main components.
Target audience and subsequent demographics ( language, best platform, current accounts, population needs)
Management of the account and objectives.
Content impact and measures of success.

Strategize

During this phase, I was ready to put together three social media strategies. One for Facebook, one for Twitter, and one for the representatives across additional platforms.
The strategy was outlined as follows:
background and context
resources
key differences
objectives for each platform
actions (including conflict management)
content strategy
results from metrics and strategy adaptation

Application

Finally, I then created a "How-To" Content Guide for ACNUR representatives' on Twitter and other subsequent social media feeds based on the strategy created above.
The guide included several key components:
objectives
audience
content
areas of improvement
Both the strategies and guidelines were submitted for approval.

Results:

At the conclusion of this project, I was able to accomplish all three milestones. The request, strategies, and content guide were all approved. The national pages were launched in late 2022 and the guide was implemented. Working on this project was a complete success!
