PROJECT OVERVIEW
About the Client
Modular is an AI-powered platform for structuring and transforming raw data. Data scientists and enterprises currently rely on code-heavy workflows that are inaccessible to most of the professionals who need clean data to do their work. Modular removes that barrier through a chat interface and drag-and-drop canvas. Founded by Kyle, a Data Scientist based in the United States, referred through MaouenePay founder Alex.
Goal
Design an AI-powered canvas where any user — regardless of technical background — can upload raw data, describe the transformations they want, and watch the output update in real time. Zero code required.
Challenges
The gap between what data tools can do and who can actually use them is significant. Powerful tools like dbt, Pandas, and SQL editors require technical knowledge most users do not have. The interaction model needed to handle natural language queries about data manipulation, translate them accurately, and surface the results in a way the user could verify without understanding the underlying process.
Solution
Blueprint designed the full product drawing on two prior projects: Yamify's cloud infrastructure design, which required making complex technical systems feel simple, and a separate drag-and-drop chatbot interface project. The two experience streams combined directly into Modular's core interaction model: an AI chat layer sitting alongside a spatial canvas, with real-time transformation preview connecting them.
