Project Overview
Lumen Financial approached us to reimagine their mobile banking app from the ground up. The goal was to create an experience that made personal finance approachable, transparent, and even delightful. We led the product design from research through to a polished React Native frontend, shipping a complete app in four months.
The Challenge
The existing app had a 2.1-star rating, with users citing confusing navigation, hidden fees, and a clunky transfer flow. Lumen needed a complete overhaul that would retain existing customers while attracting a younger demographic.
The Solution
We built a design system around clarity and trust. A bottom-tab navigation simplified access to core features, while a new "Spending Insights" dashboard used gentle data visualization to help users understand their habits. The transfer flow was reduced from 7 steps to 3.
