GonnaOrder | Comprehensive SaaS User Guide

I joined GonnaOder in 2020 as a technical writer and was tasked to revamp and reorganize their knowledge base. They were an early-stage startup at the time, and they hadn't had a writer on their team. So, the product testers were routinely writing and updating a small batch of help pages hosted on WordPress. It was hectic at first. The were numerous errors and inconsistencies. The information architecture was also not clearly defined.

When I started, I had to come up with a writing and publishing policy that would guide me and any other writers joining the project in future. I created a clear information architecture to help with categorization and document organization.

Then the real work began. I meticulously reviewed their online ordering and order management platform and all the existing help documentation. I needed to know how much time I needed to put in to revamp the existing docs while also ensuring new releases are adequately covered.

In approximately 6 months, I had renewed all existing documentation and had the testers review it for accuracy. Product development was gaining pace, and I needed to keep up. So, I put all my focus on the new feature releases, but not without updating some documents when issue fixes and enhancements came through.

With no other writer on the team, I was called on to help write and review blog posts, social media content, and the company newsletter. I partnered with the company's social media manager to brainstorm ideas and create relevant content for all the channels. For two years and nine months, I was the Jack-of-all-words for GonnaOrder. I left GonnaOrder having written 150+ detailed user guides and blog posts.
