MINUIT, a Digital Fashion Magazine Built to Be Read Slowly

MINUIT

MINUIT is a digital fashion magazine built as a single continuous scroll, one issue, eight sections, read top to bottom like paper rather than navigated like a site. Vol. 01, Après minuit, is set entirely in the hours after the city stops performing, and the whole editorial rule follows from that: nothing photographed before ten in the evening, nobody asked to smile.
The build is the argument. Most fashion sites are grids that load fast and ask for a click. This one is paced, GSAP and Lenis driving a scroll that behaves like a page turn, with a chapter counter tracking progress the way page numbers would. The editorial says a magazine is not a feed, it does not refresh and it does not ask to be liked, and the interface has to hold that line or the sentence falls apart.
Typography carries the register, Zodiak and Supreme from Indian Type Foundry, set against a near-black ground with gold and lamplight as the only colour. Bilingual throughout, French leading and English following, which lets the display lines stay French while the reader never gets stranded.

Cover, "Vol. 01, and one word of navigation"

The opening screen carries the masthead, the issue line, Après minuit, Hiver MMXXVI, and a single instruction, Feuilleter, to leaf through. No menu, no hero copy, no scroll cue beyond the word itself. The chapter counter sits in the corner from the first frame, so the reader knows the shape of what they've opened before they start.

Sommaire, "Four chapters, four thumbnails"

The contents page, numbered I to IV with a one-line description under each, L'Heure Bleue, Soie, Les Bijoux, Après Minuit. It exists to set expectations rather than to be clicked, since the whole issue is one scroll, and it borrows directly from how a print magazine tells you what you're holding.

Éditorial, "A magazine is not a feed"

The editor's letter, signed H., and the only place the issue explains itself. It states the production rule, nothing shot before ten, nobody asked to smile, and then the line the whole build serves, that a magazine does not refresh and does not ask to be liked. It ends on the issue's thesis, that the hour after midnight is the part you keep.

Chapitre I, L'Heure Bleue, "Before anything happens"

The city rehearsing its night voice, between the last office light and the first taxi. Three images, each with a caption written as a line of prose rather than a credit, and a bilingual pull quote closing the chapter. The pacing is deliberately slow here because it teaches the reader how the rest of the issue wants to be read.

Chapitre II, Soie, "Fabric, read sideways"

The material chapter, silk photographed the way it's sold, off the bolt, by hands that already know. Four images move from folded cloth to cloth in motion to cloth worn, so the sequence itself makes the argument that fabric is only finished when it's on a body. The instruction to keep scrolling, the page will turn itself, is where the motion work becomes visible.
silk remembers everything, and shines only where it chooses

Chapitre III, Les Bijoux, "Three vitrines, one object each"

The tightest chapter in the issue, gold treated as something that waits for a lamp and then repeats it. Each image is captioned like a case label with a time attached, 1h12, two rings on a black table, left mid-conversation. The restraint is the point, three objects given the space a dozen would normally share.
gold doesn't raise its voice, it waits for a lamp

Chapitre IV, Après Minuit, "Five looks walking home"

The fashion chapter proper, numbered Regard 01 through 05, one boulevard and no destination worth hurrying to. Each look gets a single line that reads as a scene rather than a product description, which is what separates this from a lookbook. It closes on the issue's strongest line, that you don't dress this way to be seen, you dress this way to remember.

Colophon, "Credits, and a promise of Vol. 02"

The closing frame lands on Le matin peut attendre, then the credits: art direction, writing done by hand with no template, photography, typefaces, and the build. Ending on a colophon rather than a footer keeps the magazine metaphor intact to the last pixel, and the Vol. 02, Été sign-off frames this as an ongoing publication rather than a one-off.

A one-issue digital magazine set in the hours after midnight. Eight chapters, GSAP-driven scroll, and nothing on the page asking to be liked.
