Hugo's Adventure – Picture Book Illustration

Hugo's Adventure by Jeremy Ireland follows a young lion's brave journey across the desert to find his way back to his family. The brief asked US Illustrations, a children's book illustration studio, to design Hugo and his animal friends, illustrate panoramic spreads and create the cover.

We designed Hugo and a cast of animal friends with distinct, friendly personalities. Sweeping panoramic spreads show the scale of the desert and the courage of one small lion.

We began with character sketches and thumbnail layouts for the wide spreads, then moved to color and full digital rendering. The cover was created to match the adventure, and we refined pages through revisions with the author.

The result is an adventurous picture book and cover with an unforgettable lion hero. See more of our children's book work at https://usillustrations.com
