Hello World! – Picture Book Illustration

Hello World! is a picture book by Daniel Leek Geu, Ph.D., following three siblings on a colorful journey through the beauty of nature, from jungles and coral reefs all the way to outer space. The brief asked US Illustrations, a children's book illustration studio, to illustrate the full book, design the kids, and create the cover.

We designed three distinct siblings and kept them consistent across every scene. Each environment gets its own bold, bright palette, with lush greens in the jungle, deep blues under the sea and a dark, starry sky in space, so young readers feel the change of place while the diverse characters stay familiar.

We began with character sketches and rough layouts for each spread, then moved to flat color and full rendering in digital tools. Colors were tuned to keep the cover and interior cohesive, and we refined details through rounds of revisions with the author until every page felt right.
