Overview

onebyzero is a London production house that helps international brands and agencies shoot and produce in the UK, covering photography, brand film, social-first video and full post-production. Working in collaboration with bilal.agency, I picked up and finished the Framer build, then had to rebuild core parts of it mid-project when the studio renamed itself from Crave Studio to onebyzero.

The Challenge

Two days into the handover, the client needed the name changed everywhere on the site, starting with the hero. At the same time, the Work section needed a CMS structure that could scale to dozens of future case studies without a developer touching every new page, and the launch date wasn't moving.

The Approach

I rebuilt the hero around the new brand reference, including a mouse-linked hover reel animation on desktop and a separate play-button treatment for phone and tablet. For the Work section, I built one reusable CMS template so every project page shares the same structure, with conditional fields for category, cover image and video versus photo layouts, plus a one-off vertical-video variant for a project shot that way. I also reworked the About section into a wider three-photo gallery and tuned interaction timing across the site.

The Details

With the deadline fixed and testimonials still not finalised, I shipped the site live without them and the "View more projects" automation, then completed both within the week. I also steered the client away from a black-hat hidden-text SEO tactic they'd been offered elsewhere.

The Outcome

The site launched on schedule despite a mid-build rename, with a CMS structure the client has used since to add new case studies independently. The collaboration continued well past launch: a new CMS page for a design festival feature, a GDPR-compliant privacy policy and cookie setup, corrected testimonials, and a full responsiveness fix after a third-party SEO edit broke the mobile layout.
