Lifecycle Email & Engagement Strategy for SaaS Analytics Startup

Overview Datapulse (name of the company has been changed to protect it's identify), a B2B SaaS platform helping data teams streamline reporting, was seeing high sign-up volume—but very few trial users were reaching the “aha moment” or converting to paid plans. I was brought in to design a full lifecycle communication strategy that could better activate new users, highlight key features, and encourage upgrades before trial expiration.
After a deep dive into their product, user behavior, and current messaging, I created a focused sequence of emails and complementary in-app and push notifications. Each message was built to nudge users toward high-value actions without overwhelming them—structured around user intent and product milestones.

Deliverables

Strategic lifecycle map based on trial user behavior and drop-off points
Copywriting for 5 lifecycle emails: onboarding, feature highlight, upgrade prompt, reminder, and re-engagement
Push & in-app message copy to reinforce key messages inside the product
Subject line variants and CTA copy for A/B testing
Suggested timing & logic for automation across all touch points
