FuboTV leveraged a hybrid codebase combining Objective-C and Swift to maximize performance and compatibility with existing code. Alamofire was employed for web service communication, enabling fast and reliable interaction with the backend REST server. This technology stack facilitated the creation of a high-performance application that delivers an exceptional user experience for live and VOD TV content consumption.
FuboTV is an industry leading Live Sports, TV, and News entertainment application that provides over 350 channels of content. It allows its users to watch MLB, NBA, NHL, NFL, NASCAR, NCAA college basketball, NCAA college football, MLS soccer, FIFA World Cup qualifiers, UEFA Champions League, English Premier League, LaLiga, Bundesliga & more, all live. Plus, stream acclaimed TV series, live news and award-winning movies and enjoy Cloud DVR and dedicated sports navigation to watch what they want, when they want.
The goal of the project was to improve and update the existing application to work on both iPhones and iPads. This required implementing a redesigned user interface while still maintaining all existing features. I initially worked with the team to establish a project plan to convert to the app to sustainable architecture. We worked together to asses possible architecture candidates and went forward with VIPER. This allowed us to gradually implemented modular code over time. The application's efficient web service communication and optimized performance resulted in a seamless viewing experience, significantly enhancing user engagement and satisfaction.
