App Design for Sifter: A Smarter Way to Organize Your Music Collection

Problem

Users struggled to manage and explore large music collections across genres, decades, and personal tags. Traditional music players lacked the ability to filter and discover content with intuitive, user-centric controls, making it harder for listeners to quickly find tracks, liner notes, artist info, or contextual background for their favorite music.

Solution

I designed a mobile app UI/UX for Sifter, a music filtering experience focused on user clarity and exploration. The design emphasized intuitive filtering by genre, decade, and personal tags, enabling effortless access to music metadata like liner notes and artist backgrounds. I used human-centered design principles and crafted visual interfaces in Figma that balance functionality with aesthetic simplicity, making it easy for users to navigate large music libraries with minimal friction.

Outcome

The result is a clean, engaging app interface that empowers users to sift through their music collection with precision and joy. By prioritizing clear filters and organized navigation, Sifter offers a more meaningful discovery experience — reducing cognitive load, increasing engagement, and enhancing the way people interact with their music. This design illustrates how thoughtful UX/UI can transform routine tasks into delightful user journeys.
