Combines visual storytelling, photo editing, and curatorial design to create an experience that balances historical respect with accessible interpretation
An exhibition designed to communicate the history and lived experience of the Dutch National Battalion and its role in the Netherlands. The project combines visual storytelling, photo editing, and curatorial design to create an engaging visitor experience that balances historical respect with accessible interpretation techniques.

The Dutch National Battalion
The exhibition aimed to present the story of the Dutch National Battalion, a group of over 400 members across the Netherlands, in a way that was both respectful of historical context and engaging to a diverse audience. This involved tackling challenges such as:
Communicating complex historical narratives without overwhelming visitors
Integrating visual and textual content into a cohesive spatial layout
Balancing archival material with modern exhibition aesthetics
Curated timeline boards that present key historical milestones in a clean, readable format.
Narration
To address these challenges, I developed a design strategy that prioritized clarity, narrative flow, and visual coherence:
Central Narrative Panels
Designed clear timeline and theme boards to guide visitors from one story chapter to the next.
Photo Editing & Restoration
Photographs from archival sources were edited and styled to maintain historical integrity while improving presentation quality.
Spatial Layout & Flow
The physical layout was conceived to enhance narrative experience, leading visitors intuitively through chronological and thematic sections.
