Overview

Medbelle is transforming the healthcare experience in the UK by connecting patients and clinicians through digital tools that replace outdated, paper-based workflows. The patient app is directly linked to Medbelle’s practice management software, allowing real-time communication, appointment scheduling, and access to medical records. My work focused on creating an intuitive, engaging, and efficient user experience that empowers patients to manage their care while staying fully connected with their healthcare team.

The Challenge

As my first task at Medbelle, I designed a mobile app to help users find the right clinic, book appointments, and manage their treatments efficiently. The main goal was to create an experience that guides users smoothly through multiple steps, from discovering clinics to managing documents, without confusion or friction.
The key challenges I faced included:
✅ Improve engagement and retention across the clinic selection funnel ✅ Display complex surgeon availability without cluttering the interface ✅ Support multiple treatment journeys simultaneously ✅ Enable users to manage appointments and medical records intuitively

1. Mobile Funnel for Clinic & Surgeon Selection

To help users find the right clinic and surgeon, I designed a funnel that guides them based on location, pricing, and treatment type.
💡 Key Improvements: ✔ Clear, intuitive navigation to reduce drop-offs in the funnel ✔ Bottom tab allowing users to view full clinic details or switch clinics easily ✔ Efficient transition from clinic selection to surgeon listing for faster booking
This solution balances speed and flexibility, enhancing user satisfaction while maintaining clarity.

2. Online Appointment & Scheduling

Displaying surgeon availability was challenging due to extensive schedules. I implemented a tab-based calendar system to separate online and in-person appointments.
💡 Key Improvements: ✔ Weekly horizontal navigation for quick overview of available slots ✔ Morning, afternoon, and evening categorization for clarity ✔ Simplified interface that reduces visual clutter while showing all options
This approach streamlines appointment booking, helping users make selections quickly and confidently.

3. Multi-Journey Support

Patients often manage multiple treatments with different insurance requirements, making it essential to provide a clear overview of all active journeys.
💡 Key Improvements: ✔ Central dashboard displaying appointments and next steps across all treatments ✔ Quick navigation to each journey where all appointments, documents, and information are grouped ✔ Prioritized view to help users focus on the most urgent actions first
This solution ensures users can easily manage multiple journeys without confusion.

4. Documents & Medical Records

Seamless communication between patients and surgeons was a priority. I implemented a secure system for storing, uploading, and accessing medical documents.
💡 Key Improvements: ✔ Patients can upload test results, treatment plans, and previous history securely ✔ Surgeons can review records in real time for faster, informed care ✔ Centralized access ensures both patients and clinicians have the information they need instantly
This feature enhances efficiency, safety, and transparency in the patient care process.
