Case Study Overview

Chonky Paws began with a quiet but emotionally heavy question:
How do you design everyday health decisions for pets so they feel calm, loving, and reassuring not anxious or fear-driven?
In an industry dominated by urgency, warnings, and guilt-based messaging, this project focused on creating a premium pet wellness brand that supports long-term health without pressure, shame, or alarm.

The Problem

Most pet wellness brands rely on:
Fear-based health communication
Guilt-driven narratives (“you’re not doing enough”)
Loud visuals competing for attention rather than trust
For pet parents who already carry emotional and mental load this creates anxiety instead of confidence, and stress instead of care.

Design Goal

To build a premium pet wellness brand that:
Feels emotionally safe, calm, and loving
Encourages preventive care through gentle daily rituals
Communicates health without sounding clinical or judgmental
Respects both the pet’s body and the parent’s emotional state

Strategy & Approach

The brand was anchored in a love-first health care philosophy.
Every design decision was intentionally quiet and considered:
Soft, rounded forms → reduce visual stress and mirror gentleness
Muted, warm color palette → signals comfort, trust, and longevity
Typography with softness and clarity → authority without intimidation
Minimal, breathable layouts → space to reflect, not react
A single question guided every choice:
“Does this make a pet parent feel calmer or more anxious?”
If a design element added pressure, it didn’t belong.

Brand Message

Chonky Paws exists to protect the lives and wellbeing of pets by strengthening the emotional bond between pets and their parents through thoughtful, health-supportive design.
This brand is built for people who don’t see pets as animals—they see them as family.
Loving your pet means wanting them to live longer, happier, and more comfortably with care.

Replaced fear-driven language with reassurance and gentle guidance
Designed visuals that feel like everyday care rituals, not medical interventions
Built a flexible design system that can scale across products while maintaining emotional consistency
