Mischa van den Burg, found of the number one DevOps Skool community, reached out to me to edit his long form videos for YouTube and his Skool community courses. As well, he asked me to create YouTube Shorts from his long form videos for repurposing on networks such as X.com and LinkedIn.

The biggest challenge was creating workflows to accommodate our different timezones and leverage platforms that would facilitate a seamless, automated process that allowed for efficient communication, review cycles, and a pipeline of content ready for distribution.

For long form videos, we use a shared Google Drive folder to transfer assets and Slack to communicate. For editing, I use DaVinci Resolve and share drafts for review using Blackmagic Cloud Presentations, which affords Mischa and I the ability to chat and leave comments on a draft video.

For YouTube Shorts, I use OpusClip which leverage AI to create drafts. I then edit those drafts, cleaning up the audio, adding titles, b-roll, and whatever else is necessary to ensure a good quality Short. I then add those Shorts to a Google Drive folder which then pulls them into Airtable where I finish the job by adding titles and copy. From there, Mischa approves the Shorts which then get scheduled for release on YouTube or other platforms like X.com and LinkedIn.
