Scope: End-to-end design of Telly’s mobile app, with a focus on responsive UX, accessibility, and seamless integration with their design system.
The Challenge
Telly is a free 55” 4K HDR smart TV that includes a unique second “Smart Screen” displaying news, weather, sports scores, fitness, games, and contextual ads that fund the hardware.
The mobile app had to support this ambitious model by:
Communicating the dual-screen value.
Streamlining account creation, TV activation, and widget personalization.
Enabling smooth management of referrals and user settings.
Maintaining brand consistency and strict accessibility standards.
My Process
Research & Discovery
Conducted stakeholder interviews and user surveys to understand motivations: free hardware, smart features, privacy considerations.
Defined personas such as “tech-savvy families” and “casual streamers” to guide design priorities.
Journey Mapping
Mapped core flows: onboarding, TV activation, widget setup, referrals, and account management.
Used an impact-versus-effort matrix to prioritize essential experiences.
Wireframes & UX Validation
Created low-fidelity wireframes to clarify content hierarchy and user goals.
Developed interactive prototypes for remote testing and iteration.
UI & Design System Integration
Built WCAG-compliant components in Figma with accessible color contrast, spacing, and keyboard navigation in mind.
Documented patterns for consistency with the broader design system.
Handoff & QA
Delivered detailed specs with interaction notes and accessibility guidance.
Collaborated with developers using Jira for iterative feedback and QA.
Launch & Impact Tracking
Supported tracking of KPIs like reservations, activations, and conversions.
Helped enable the company to reach 230,000 reservations in the first week and €100 K in launch revenue.
Outcome
Delivered a polished, accessible mobile app supporting both iOS and Android launches.
Ensured consistent design system integration with the Telly brand.
