Luxury e-commerce requires a different design philosophy. When it comes to candle, most customers want it to be a personalized moments.
This project focused on a core challenge:
How do you offer deep product customization (4 categories, 12 total options) without overwhelming the customer, and still maintain a premium experience?
My approach was to transform customization into an intuitive, curated journey rather than a technical configuration. Instead of dropdowns and cluttered forms, I created a visual, step-by-step selection flow: Size → Scent → Jar Style → Wick Type.
The result is a luxurious, guided experience that empowers customers to build their perfect candle with confidence.
THE PROBLEM
Luxury candle brands face several common UX barriers:
1. Customization Overload
Multiple options: scents, jars, sizes, wick types often lead to decision fatigue and abandoned carts.
2. Lack of Pricing Transparency
When customization affects price, unclear or delayed pricing undermines trust.
3. Template-Based Pages
Standard Shopify layouts don’t communicate luxury or justify premium pricing ($28–$60).
4. Confusing Subscription Options
Poorly implemented “Subscribe & Save” layouts often frustrate shoppers who prefer one-time purchases.
5. Missing Sensory Storytelling
Candles are emotional, experiential products. Clinical or static product pages fail to convey that experience.

I designed a premium product experience centered on clarity, visual hierarchy, and elegant customization.

Lifestyle carousel with 3+ styled images
Clean cream/beige background for a luxury aesthetic
Navigation arrows for easy browsing

Premium products sell visually. The hero section handles most of the emotional work.
