Introduction

I successfully completed the comprehensive redesign of a Nigerian fintech mobile application, targeting both an improved user experience and enhanced business performance. The redesign aimed to address key user pain points, optimize core functionalities, and align the platform with the company’s growth objectives.

The Challenge

The primary goal of the redesign was to create a seamless, intuitive, and efficient user experience while driving measurable business outcomes. Key focus areas included:
Simplifying the transaction process to reduce friction and improve speed.
Choosing an engaging and emotionally resonant color palette to enhance user retention.
Streamlining navigation and usability for a smooth and enjoyable experience.
Ensuring that design decisions contributed to increased profitability and user engagement.

Research and Insights

The project began with an in-depth research phase that included user behaviour analysis, usability studies, and competitive benchmarking. Several critical questions guided the redesign:
How can we ensure a seamless user experience?
Conducted usability tests to identify pain points in navigation.
Implemented an intuitive interface design to simplify interactions.
2. What color palette would evoke positive emotions and encourage frequent app usage?
Explored color psychology and performed A/B testing to select a palette that resonated with users and reinforced trust and happiness.
3. How can the transaction process be optimized for speed and minimal clicks?
Mapped out existing workflows and identified redundancies.
Streamlined forms, automated processes, and reduced the number of required steps to complete transactions.
4. How will these design changes impact the business's profitability?
Aligned design improvements with KPIs like user engagement, transaction volume, and retention rates.

The Solution

The redesign introduced several impactful changes:
Streamlined Navigation: Simplified the app’s structure, enabling users to complete key tasks with fewer steps.
Optimized Transaction Process: Reduced the number of fields and clicks required, making transactions faster and more efficient.
Emotionally Engaging Design: Implemented a warm and vibrant color palette supported by user feedback and A/B testing.
Improved Responsiveness: Enhanced app performance to provide faster loading times and smoother transitions.
