This artwork holds a deeply personal place in my heart, as it mirrors a significant period of transformation and growth in my life. When tasked with creating this piece, (a commission for Deakin University’s magazine) I was navigating through profound changes, and the concept of ‘transition’ resonated deeply with me.
“I aimed to explore the intricate relationship between external circumstances and one's environmental impact on body & soul.”
This piece not only captures my individual journey but also conveys universal themes of resilience, growth, and the inherent beauty found in overcoming adversity. It stands as a visual testament to the intricate interplay between our external experiences and internal evolution, making it a deeply personal and meaningful creation in my artistic journey.
The split imagery of the flower speaks volumes about the impact of different environments, one side reflecting a darker, more challenging setting, while the other radiates in the brightness of positivity.
The bee on the flower adds layers of meaning, symbolising personal power, endurance, patience, and prosperity. Bees, known for seeking sweetness and purifying the soul, representing a spirit guide, or a higher power guiding to the light.
The broken petal serves as a poignant tear, symbolising the emotional weight of the past.
