Gaia is a spa and wellness hub that offers flexible booking sessions designed to simplify the process of booking their spa and wellness sessions. The hub aimed to use the Gaia app, which allows users to schedule spa treatments, make payments, and find spa locations effortlessly. Our goal was to streamline operations, enhance the customer experience, and boost session bookings with a simple and efficient mobile app.
Role & Team
My Role: Product Designer
Team: Product Manager, Developers
As a Solo Product Designer, I was responsible for:
Gaining insights into business needs and user pain points through direct stakeholder conversations.
Creating user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity UI designs..
Working closely with developers to ensure design feasibility and seamless handoff using Figma.
Refining designs based on feedback and testing flow to ensure alignment with business goals and user expectations.
Business Goal
To create an intuitive platform that enhances user convenience in booking and managing spa appointments while integrating seamless payment and location-based features.
Problem statement
Challenges Users Faced:
Inconvenience in scheduling appointments
Locating the Gaia hub for first-timer
There was no centralized platform for booking sessions, everything was handled manually via calls and Social Media DMs(Instagram, Facebook, WhatsApp, etc.).
Unclear payment processes leading to drop-offs
Solution Approach:
To solve these issues, I led the design of a Mobile App that enables seamless discovery, booking, and management of fitness session payments securely and locates spas on an interactive map. Here’s how I approached it:
User Research
Target Users: Working professionals, wellness enthusiasts, travelers
Pain Points Identified:
Time-consuming booking process
Lack of appointment reminders
Preference for cashless transactions
2. Understanding the User Journey & Defining Flows
I designed intuitive and user-friendly flows that enable Gaia customers to:
Browse available services & session dates online.
Manage their appointment bookings with easy rescheduling and cancellation options within allowed timeframes.
Book and pay with their card or at the venue seamlessly, removing the need for a manual process of calls and Social Media (Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp).
Gaia User Flow
3. Designed the Prototypes
I designed high-fidelity mockups that showcase the brand, imagery, and a clean, intuitive UI.
4. Collaborating with Developers for Handoff
I worked closely with the mobile developers to ensure adherence to the design style guide, providing clear components, and variants for a seamless implementation.
5. Usability Testing & Iterations
Feedback from Testers:
Initial booking flow was too lengthy → Simplified with fewer steps.
2. Users needed more visibility on spa locations → Integrated Google Maps API.
3. Some found the payment flow unclear → Improved call-to-action buttons

Lessons Learned & Reflections
User feedback is invaluable – early testing helped refine the design.
Simplifying flows increases adoption – removing extra steps boosted conversions.
Designing for relaxation requires UX empathy – the interface had to be calming yet functional.
