Sonam, an experienced Product designer based in Chicago needed to refresh her old portfolio created in Wix years ago. I was hired to design & develop a custom portfolio to incorporate not just a fresh look & feel, but add much needed improvements from SEO, performance, Open graph, and form integration perspective.

I was given complete control over the project vision, design direction and implementation methodologies & frameworks used in order to bring the portfolio to life. The only pointer given to me was to keep things on the clean, minimalist and timeless side.

I worked collaboratively with Sonam to discuss my design direction and after confirming on the concepts, we agreed it was OK to proceed. Armed with all the images, text content/copy related to all the projects provided by Sonam, I went to Figma-land and had fun trying out different ideas.

As part of the project agreement, there were a lot of things that needed to come together to make this website work as desired today and remain easy to maintain & update in the near future. (Wix had been a lot of work to maintain, and Sonam didn't want a repeat mistake this time around)

After our Figma designs were locked in, I asked Sonam to jump in and take on the copywriter's role. After all, it was all her projects and nobody knew them better than her.

With all the key pieces of information available to me, I was able to get started on the development side of things. I chose Webstudio for this build as it allowed me to truly embrace the flexibility and freedom of developing without getting tied into a walled ecosystem.
