Bidvest Bank identified the need to move into a digital future that drives value through an optimised customer and employee experience. The approach around the stages of transformation would be to rapidly enhance the online customer experience, build new digital features and end-to-end customer journeys.
In my role as a UI designer backed by a fully fledged design team, I had input on the redesign of a the bank's public website to enhance the overall user experience. The primary objective was to create an intuitive and accessible interface suitable for a diverse customer base. The redesign focused on resolving issues like slow load times, outdated visuals, and cumbersome navigation that previously hindered user engagement. I also prioritised enhancing security features and ensuring compliance with the latest web standards to foster trust and reliability. The new design is optimised for seamless integration across digital platforms, particularly improving mobile usability. This project not only revitalised the bank's brand identity but also positioned it strongly in a competitive financial landscape, demonstrating a commitment to meeting and exceeding modern customer expectations for a swift, secure, and user-friendly online banking experience.
Process:
Research and Discovery: Conducted user and stakeholder interviews to gather insights and identify pain points with the current platform. Analysed competitor platforms to benchmark features and overall design.
Wireframing and Prototyping: Created low-fidelity wireframes to outline the basic structure and user flow, followed by high-fidelity prototypes to visualize the user interface with actual content and design elements.
Usability Testing: Conducted iterative rounds of testing with real users, using both prototypes and MVP (Minimum Viable Product) versions to gather feedback and refine the interface.
Implementation and Launch: Collaborated with developers to ensure the design was translated accurately into a functional website. Oversaw the final tweaks during the development phase and managed the launch of the redesigned platform.
Post-Launch Analysis and Iteration: Monitored user behavior and feedback post-launch to identify areas for further improvement and optimise the user experience.
Goal:
The goal of this project was to enhance the user experience of an e-commerce platform to increase customer satisfaction and conversion rates. Key objectives included simplifying the navigation, streamlining the checkout process, and incorporating a more engaging and aesthetically pleasing design.
Result:
The redesigned platform saw a significant improvement in user engagement metrics:
A 30% increase in session duration, indicating more substantial user interaction.
A 20% reduction in bounce rate, suggesting that users found the platform more compelling and easier to navigate.
A 25% increase in conversion rates, demonstrating that the streamlined checkout process and improved overall usability encouraged more purchases.
