Given the dictatorial nature (authoritarian or, perhaps better, totalitarian of a new kind) of the political solutions implemented in the Russian Federation and Belarus, it's hard to know how the invasion of Ukraine and its aftermath will play out, direct and indirect, immediate and medium/long-term, are being viewed by the elites, the populations, and the Armed Forces of those two states. It will be difficult, but not impossible, that the Russian and Belarusian civil societies will massively oppose the war or that they will be able, in the short term, to bring about the replacement of the dictatorships in question with democratic regimes.
