Kwiq started as a gift card trading platform but wanted to transform into a full crypto marketplace. Their existing app looked dated, had clunky transaction flows that confused users, lacked proper wallet management features, provided no real-time market data, and offered zero trust signals in an industry plagued by scams. Users were abandoning transactions midway because the experience felt sketchy. KYC verification was painful and invasive.

The crypto-to-fiat conversion flow was confusing. For a financial app handling people's money, the design inspired zero confidence. They needed a complete redesign that made crypto feel safe, simple, and legitimate.

I led the complete product redesign transforming Kwiq from gift cards into a modern crypto marketplace. I designed intuitive wallet management with clear balance displays and transaction history, created seamless crypto-to-fiat conversion flows that explained every step, rebuilt the KYC onboarding to be thorough but not invasive, integrated real-time market data and price charts, added trust signals throughout (security badges, transaction confirmations, customer support access), and designed the visual interface to feel professional and trustworthy.

I prototyped flows in Framer to test with users before engineering built anything, iterating based on their feedback about what felt safe vs. sketchy.

During user testing, we discovered that users fundamentally distrusted any crypto app asking for their bank account information, even though we needed it for fiat withdrawals. No amount of security messaging convinced them. I had to redesign the entire withdrawal flow to use trusted third-party payment providers (Stripe and Paypal) instead of direct bank connections, which required complete architectural changes and new partnership negotiations.

Then Nigerian market introduced new crypto trading regulations mid-development that restricted certain transaction types. We had to redesign the trading interface to comply with new rules while the regulations were still being clarified.

Kwiq processed $220K+ in crypto transactions within 4 months of the redesign launch. App downloads reached 22K in 6 months. Average session length increased 5.3 minutes because users explored features instead of just executing quick trades. App Store rating: 4.5 stars. Transaction completion rate increased 67% because the new flows eliminated confusion. The redesign transformed Kwiq from a sketchy-looking platform into a legitimate crypto marketplace that users trusted with their money.
