Screen Time & Focus Mobile App UX/UI Redesign | Unplugify

Unplugify is a mobile application for controlling screen time and building a healthier relationship with your gadget and social networks. The main goal of the project was to create a space for tracking the time users spend on their phone, with a special focus on the most visited applications. Our goal was to redesign the mobile app into an intuitive, engaging experience that helps people cut unnecessary distractions and build better digital habits step by step.

The screen time market is crowded, and many apps simply block everything, which disrupts work and quickly leads users to give up. The challenge was to diversify the functionality and stand out among competitors, solving the problem smoothly and with a long-term result. The app had to filter out only unnecessary distractions without affecting users' work processes.

We started with competitor analysis and a heuristic analysis of the existing experience to find usability gaps and opportunities to stand out. Next, we created a flow map to ensure intuitive navigation through all key features: onboarding, login and sign-up, dashboard, rules, Pomodoro timer, Buddies and profile. From there, we moved through UX design and UI design and finished with a UI kit for consistent, scalable screens.

Onboarding collects the information needed for personalized settings, with sign-up via email, Google or Apple ID. The dashboard shows statistics, session progress and relevant recommendations at a glance.

Sessions are the core of the app. They help users control specific apps and screen time and can be adjusted to a certain time of day or topic. Different session types and difficulty levels grow from simple to longer sessions, so users build the habit gradually. Every session can be customized (time, number of apps, complexity) and edited, paused or deleted at any time.

A Pomodoro timer helps users concentrate on a specific task without distractions. The timer stays clear and readable, while rest-time settings support breaks and help users gradually increase their focus time.

Buddies lets users track their progress alongside friends, compete and earn points. The profile is the place to customize the app and adjust personal goals.

The redesign turned screen time control into an engaging, gradual habit-building experience that helps users reduce distractions without blocking productive work. A bright, playful palette with a lime primary accent, rounded typography and quick visual recognition make Unplugify feel friendly rather than restrictive, which keeps users motivated to come back.
