The Situation — Challenges
Rattibha enables users to read the best of Twitter's threads and knowledge bits. By enabling the community to fetch threads by mentioning the @Rattibha bot from Twitter and putting them in an easy-to-read layout suitable to consume as long-form content. Moreover, it enables users to print, share, save, and convert to PDF. All of this is offered to the world free of charge!
With 900k active users/month, peaking at 2 million/month, and a growing community of 487k followers on Twitter →, Rattibha faced multiple challenges:
The old UI of the web app and the lack of features could no longer fulfill the growing needs of the stakeholders and its users.
At the time, there was almost no monetization stream or channel available to support scalability, and it was impeding the development of new features because it was exclusively funded by stakeholders with no cost to consumers and no advertisements.
App reliability and performance implications grew at an extremely fast pace.
A batch of rival Twitter bots with almost identical functionality have emerged globally, and Rattibha, as one of the early pioneers in retrieving and unrolling Twitter threads, lacked a competitive advantage against these new bots. </aside>
I started with a kickoff meeting with the client. to understand the requirements and needs of the product, I ran a stakeholder kick-off workshop to better address the challenge and situation in hand
While it was critical to keep all questions as open-ended as possible, this enabled me to understand the project and time available as a designer. it is also key to understand the pitfalls, preferred outcomes, and any previous attempts or relevant research.
And will help me better focus my efforts on research and discovery phases. For example, to understand if solutions, workshops, and research methods are enabling or hindering progress and getting out of timeline and scope. </aside>
