Two people. One shared question. No stored answers.
Live personal web application
DuoTalk is a quiet, privacy-conscious conversation product that gives two people the same guided question at the same time. I designed and developed the bilingual experience, temporary room architecture and responsive interaction model.
The Challenge
Conversation-card products can become performative, cluttered or dependent on account creation. DuoTalk needed to feel calm and immediate while keeping two devices synchronized and avoiding storage of private spoken answers.
The Solution
I built a minimal two-person room flow with short join codes, independent participant tokens and an authoritative shared question state. Temporary Redis-backed rooms and HTTPS polling support the deployed experience while the interface stays focused on the current question.
My Role
Product strategy, UX/UI design, interaction design, front-end development, server architecture, synchronization logic and test design.
Key Features
Temporary two-person rooms with six-character codes
Synchronized question progression across devices
Portuguese and English interfaces selected per device
1,464 original questions in each language with shared IDs
Category-balancing question engine
Reconnection and simultaneous-advance handling
UI/UX Design Decisions
Warm neutral space, a single terracotta accent and friendly typography keep the experience calm. The absence of accounts, chat and stored answers is a deliberate privacy and focus decision.
A live bilingual web application with a tested synchronization model for temporary two-person rooms. The product is intentionally scoped and does not store or analyze spoken responses.
