Each of my recent products needed a 3D hero that says what the product does in one glance. I built all three in Spline from primitives, no AI generation: a server rack for Postmortem, an inbox tray for Relay, and a tank gauge for Tanker Line.
The scenes
Postmortem server rack: three rack units with front plates, vents and handles, the middle unit pulled out, status LEDs two green and one amber, on a dark studio floor.
Relay inbox tray: a desk tray with three stacked envelopes, each tagged with a priority chip in cobalt, amber and green, the same triage colors the app uses.
Tanker Line gauge: a glass cylinder with amber liquid at 62%, brass base, collar and cap, and a monospace 62% readout at the liquid line.
How they were built
Everything is parametric Spline geometry driven through Spline's MCP from Claude Code: each part is created, named, grouped and lit in code, so a change to one unit or one envelope is one edit.
Materials are physical: brushed brass, matte painted steel, paper, a glass layer on the tank. Lighting is a key, a fill and a rim per scene, with ambient occlusion and a shadow-catcher floor so the object floats on the page background.
All three are published to the Spline Community under CC BY 4.0, so anyone can open and remix them.
