Spec project for UQU Clubs & Societies, published with their approval. Pre-production: three style directions on paper, decided before a single frame is animated. The motion on the cover turns through the real pages of the three documents.
Brief
A club leader training series: sixteen videos, one topic each. Training videos for student club executives compete with everything else on a phone. The series had to teach practical jobs, like finding sponsors and getting agreements in writing, in a form people watch to the end, and it had to look like UQU's own Clubs & Societies brand.
Architecture and design system
One structure for every video, worked from UQU's brand guidelines: cold open, title card, teaching body, recap and next step, whichever look is chosen.
Three distinct looks on the same Clubs & Societies palette, so the decision is about approach rather than brand.
For each direction, the title card, a teaching beat and the end card are drawn out, with notes on music and voice.
Motion and visual delivery
Full Bleed puts the Clubs & Societies poster style into motion: flat colour, bold type, cuts on the beat. On Screen teaches inside rebuilt versions of the tools club executives use, such as Canva, Instagram and Gmail. Ibis & Co. hands the series to a flat-vector ibis who makes each mistake first and is then put right.
Impact
Three complete directions, five A4 pages each, set side by side for comparison.
One structure for all sixteen videos, whichever look is chosen.
A plain note on what each direction is strongest for, so the client chooses on purpose.
