GOOD BRANDING

The Challenge

The VRL project, integrating both hardware and software, is an advanced application designed to support rally drivers. The primary challenge and core responsibility was to engineer a User Interface (UI) that guarantees absolute readability and dynamics under the extreme, high-stress conditions of competitive driving. The visual data had to remain perfectly legible and optimal regardless of the phone's orientation or the intense G-forces experienced during a race.

Vibe Architecture & Aesthetics

To meet these rigorous demands, in collaboration with VISOVIA studio, I analyzed the latest design trends in modern automotive interiors, digital dashboards, and vehicular interfaces. The vibe of the project is defined by a sophisticated hybrid: blending the sleek elegance of modern premium cars with the raw, mechanical reality of a racing cockpit. The result is a refined layout that possesses a distinct "racing edge" while adhering to a strict, minimalist form. We completely eliminated visual overload, prioritizing absolute clarity and high-contrast telemetry.

My Contribution (Brand & UI/UX)

I developed a bespoke visual language and strategic direction for the entire venture. My scope of work encompassed designing the complete information architecture, app layout, navigation systems, custom iconography, as well as the logotype and full brand identity. During the UI and Experience Design (XD) process in Figma and Adobe Illustrator, the client's practical knowledge and years of hands-on rally experience were invaluable. This constant feedback loop ensured that every design decision was rigorously validated and perfectly tailored to the highly specific needs of motorsport athletes.

Results & Achievements

The final outcome is a visually striking, highly functional interface that performs flawlessly in the harsh reality of competitive racing, directly solving the initial pain points of rally drivers. Furthermore, I delivered a cohesive, dynamic visual brand system for the entire venture, perfectly encapsulating its high-tech and uncompromised motorsport character.
Extreme Ergonomics in Action
Extreme Ergonomics in Action
Designed for tactile interaction under heavy G-forces. The generously sized touch targets and structured layout minimize cognitive load, ensuring precise inputs even when the vehicle is in intense motion.
Dynamic Horizontal Layout
Dynamic Horizontal Layout
The interface seamlessly adapts to a horizontal orientation, maximizing the display area for crucial telemetry. Oversized, high-contrast typography ensures split-second readability, allowing the driver to process information without breaking focus from the track.
Instant Visual Confirmation
Instant Visual Confirmation
Uses aggressive red accents for active inputs against a dark background. The driver gets an immediate, unmistakable visual cue that their input was registered. This eliminates second-guessing, allowing them to instantly return their absolute focus to driving.
Anti-Distraction Environment
Anti-Distraction Environment
A deeply cohesive, pure dark mode applied systematically across every touchpoint. Prevents the device from becoming a distracting light source in the peripheral vision, keeping the cabin dark and the driver's visual focus strictly on the outside environment.
Zero-Friction Pit Stops
Zero-Friction Pit Stops
A structured, flat information architecture for complex settings and profiles. Between rally stages, when time is highly critical, the crew can swap driver profiles or tweak car parameters in seconds without getting lost in nested menus.
Psychological Readiness
Psychological Readiness
The start screen features a pulsating, high-tech central motif. Beyond aesthetics, it provides immediate visual reassurance that the system is fully armed, calibrated, and ready, instilling confidence right before the launch of a stage.
Forgiving Calibration Controls
Forgiving Calibration Controls
Utilizes chunky sliders and large incremental buttons rather than delicate toggles. Allows the driver or co-driver to make precise micro-adjustments easily while bouncing over rough terrain, requiring zero surgical precision from their fingers.
Glare-Resistant Visual Hierarchy
Glare-Resistant Visual Hierarchy
A strict vertical layout utilizing high-contrast cyan on true black. This combination radically reduces screen glare. The driver can instantly identify the single most important metric at a glance, regardless of blinding sunlight or pitch-black night driving conditions.
Millisecond Data Processing
Millisecond Data Processing
A brutally minimalist approach to spatial telemetry, stripping away all decorative UI elements. By removing visual noise, the human brain processes these pure geometric shapes fractions of a second faster, accelerating the driver's reaction time during complex maneuvers.
Intuitive Information Architecture
Intuitive Information Architecture
The navigation menu overlays smoothly without completely obscuring the active dashboard context. This layered approach maintains the user's spatial awareness within the app while providing quick access to essential features.
