The Double Standards Project is an academic initiative that studies how the uneven application of international legal rules shapes legitimacy, power and the future of the international legal order. It brings together scholars across law, politics and international relations. I designed and built their website in Framer. With a degree in International Relations myself, this one was close to home.
Scope: visual direction, UX/UI design, Framer development, CMS setup, SEO, domain connection
Timeline: November 2025 to January 2026
The challenge
The client had picked a Framer template (MindSpring) as a starting point. It had to become a calm, serious site that reads like a research institution, not a startup landing page. The team is made of academics, so they needed to publish new events and papers on their own, without a developer.
Process
Style first. I set the visual direction in Figma: a serif and sans-serif pairing, a neutral palette with one teal accent, generous whitespace and quiet abstract visuals for each section.
Template overhaul. I rebuilt the template layout for six pages: Home, About, People, Events, Publications and Contact.
CMS the team can run. Events and Publications live in Framer CMS, so a new conference report or paper is added through a simple form.
Motion with restraint. Only fades and smooth transitions, nothing that distracts from the reading.
Launch details. Responsive layouts for desktop, tablet and mobile, page titles, meta descriptions and alt text, the GoDaddy domain connected, and a final QA of links, forms and CMS filters.
