Building LISPINE’s Online Presence: A UI/UX Case Study in Spine Care Solutions

How I turned a dated and complex website into an intuitive, patient-friendly platform for LISPINE.

Summary

LISPINE, a leading spine care practice in Long Island (since 1997), needed a website overhaul to better reflect their mission of providing compassionate, non-surgical spine care. After joining the project mid-way, I collaborated closely with them to design and develop a new website that not only improved user experience but also significantly reduced bounce rates by 23% and doubled conversions.

Case Study

LISPINE, a respected spine care practice, serves the Long Island community by addressing back, neck, and other spine-related issues. Their mission is to demystify spine surgery, reassuring patients that most cases might not even require full-blown surgery. As their reputation grew, especially after their surgeons were named among New York’s top 150 spine specialists in 2024, their existing website needed to evolve. The goal was to create an online presence where patients could easily find information, feel at ease, and understand their treatment options.

Why Redo The Website?

LISPINE got featured in June. The surge in popularity following their recognition highlighted the need for a redesign. The previous website wasn’t fully equipped to handle the increased demand, particularly for their older, anxious patients who struggled to find the necessary information. LISPINE and I knew it was crucial to create a site that would give patients a warm welcome and alleviate their concerns, leading to a comprehensive redesign.

The Process

I joined the project when it was already behind schedule, with the homepage having gone through several revisions. With 34 inner pages still to design and a tight deadline, the pressure was on to deliver a cohesive and user-friendly experience. Working alongside another designer, we leveraged the pre-approved content, style guide, and overall theme to expedite the design process.
During development, unexpected challenges arose. Despite initial approvals, the client requested significant changes that required real-time adjustments. I collaborated closely with the developers, making tweaks directly within WordPress, which, although time-consuming, ensured that the final product aligned perfectly with LISPINE’s vision.

The Outcome

The new website successfully embodied LISPINE’s mission. It featured a warm, welcoming design that made it easy for visitors to find information and feel reassured about their care options. The site wasn’t just about aesthetics; it was about creating a sense of safety and trust, ensuring that patients understood their spine health and felt confident in LISPINE’s care.

The bounce rate improved dramatically, dropping from 55% to 32%.

The new website had a profound impact. This decrease indicated that more visitors were finding the information they needed and staying engaged. Moreover, LISPINE saw their conversion rate double, as more patients felt comfortable reaching out for consultations and treatments.
This collaboration didn’t just elevate LISPINE’s online presence — it deepened their connection with patients, reflecting their true commitment to compassionate care.
