✨ Brand design for Candles & Co. ✨

Candles & Co. is a small brand based in the UK. They focus on creating beautiful candles that are natural and non-toxic. Besides that, their goal is to make candles extremely aesthetic, so that they could be a part of the interior.

🎯 Objective

The objective of this project was to develop a brand identity design for Candles & Co. More precisely a logo suite, packaging design and candle label design. Given the type of candles that were going to be sold, the design also had to reflect it - minimal, luxurious vibes with notes of elegancy.

main logo design

Main logo

In the logo for Candles & Co. I wanted to focus more on the typography and to add a logomark like a nice small signature. That is because given that the logo will be utilised on the packaging design a lot, logotypes tend to be remembered by the consumers way better, especially if we are talking about a store setting in which there are various products on the shelf. This way the brand will be either quickly recognised or if the customer doesn't know about the brand yet, it will be easier to remember. Overall in the design here I went for very sophisticated, minimal and elegant design to really shine through the exclusivity and premiumness of the brand.

Structure

The logomark is thoughtfully designed in a way to include two C’s, while representing a premium feel due to utilization of such border around the design. Not to mention that there are droopy elements that reflect the candles.

vertical logo variation

Secondary logo

Secondary logo or otherwise a vertical version is needed for the instances in which the main logo will not be that suitable. It is important to not only keep the integrity of the brand across various platforms, but to also make sure that all of the elements look good in different situations. This logo variation will look great on the packaging box design and printed brochures.

colours

Colour Palette

The colours chosen for Candles & Co. are very simple and minimal. There is a beige under a name “Snow” that resembles a colour of a premium wax on a candle. And then there is “Jet,” which is almost black, but not yet. It was chosen to create a construct with a beige colour. Meanwhile, not fully black is meant to be, since it works better on both digital and print.

Packaging

In the packaging design it is possible to see that the minimal theme has been kept quite well. Naturally, we tend to associate minimalism with premiumness of a product. This is exactly the trick that has been used the design here.

Branded Typefaces

Above you may see 2 fonts that were selected for Candles & Co. Main font is used for titles and any text that needs an emphasis. While the secondary one its used for body text and instances where it is needed to add text that is not necessarily that important. This typefaces selection allows us to have the main font that is very elegant and unique, while with the secondary one we balance it out, so it doesn't seem like "too much."

submark design

The submark

The submark is a short version of the logo that can be used in various landscapes where the brand might want to put on their mark, but the whole logo might seem excessive. As an example, stickers, rubber stamps and even watermarks In the design here, I have kept the overall mood of the brand in the mark as well. It's simple, yet elevated, transmitting the fact that we are looking at a premium brand here.
