Knowledge is power as they say but only if that knowledge is organized, accessible, and useful. For a Current State Assessment, I evaluate structured and unstructured data to assess the current state of knowledge within an organization.
Problem 🚩
A mature organization with significant resources scattered throughout siloed departments needed to consolidate resources and identify knowledge gaps to address efficiency.
My Contribution 🌟
A full assessment involves an employee survey, interviews with leaders, system reviews, etc. I gather the results of all the data into a final assessment report with some example sections given here.
I always include 3 starting points for transformation in the assessment report as a springboard for knowledge management efforts.
The organization's information has been redacted for privacy.
Knowledge Benchmark analysis
I used a knowledge benchmark to score 5 different areas of knowledge management within the organization.
SWOT analysis
The SWOT analysis focuses exclusively on the effects of knowledge within the organization and is supported by documentation provided by the organization or direct employee statements.
Starting Points for Transformation
The final piece in the assessment is starting points for transformation for the organization. These depend on the overall knowledge management goals of the organization and the data gathered in the final report.
